WA access to zones

  Access system in new WA

Please find below a schematic overview of the attribution of access chains to the individual experimental zones in the upgraded West Area (from 1997 onward):

The changes with respect to the old layout (1996 and before) are the following:

  1. The zones related to the H1, X1, X3 beams as well as the WA98 zone are suppressed. These zones are PPE011, PPE071, PPE171, PPE091, PPE191, PPE081, PPE101, PPE063, PPE083 and PPE103.
  2. PPE065 will be attached to the H3TUNNEL chain.
  3. The X5A chain will now contain 4 Bends instead of two.
  4. The H1-TAXes will be blocked (consigned) in DUMP position
  5. The interlock elements for the different chains are the following:

    Chain Elements in 2000
    and after
    Situation from 1997
    till end 1999
    H3tunnelB3-H3, B4-H3, T1 out B2-H3, B3-H3, TAX3-H3, TAX4-H3
    X5AB1-X5, B2-X5, B3-X5, B4-X5B1-X5, B2-X5, B3-X5, B4-X5
    X5BTDX-X5TDX-X5
    X7AB1-X7, B2-X7, B3-X7, B4-X7B1-X7, B2-X7, B3-X7, B4-X7
    X7BTDX-X7TDX-X7
    Chain-8MBBT6701, MBS6106, T1 out MBBT6202, MBN620306, TAX3-H3, TAX4-H3

TT3 is no longer attached to an interlock chain.

In case a door is 'forced' (emergency passage), CHAIN-8 is cut, except for doors in the H3TUNNEL chain where CHAIN-5 is cut. The Chain-8 elements have been modified, too. See the table above.

The radiation facility "GIF" (door 125) has a private interlock system related to the radiator, but it can technically also be included in the beam interlock system, e.g. to the X5B chain.
